Founder of Fujiwara Ballet School
About Fumiyo Fujiwara 

In 1946, she became an apprenticeship under Akiko Tachibana, and later became a teacher at the Akiko Tachibana Ballet Academy. In 1950, the school became the first in Japan to be officially recognized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and in 1952, it changed its name to the current Tachibana Ballet School and was responsible for the administrative procedures for obtaining permission to become  a school corporation.

1965 Established Fujiwara Ballet Institute,

1977   Established the Fujiwara Ballet School in the current location ,Onmashinden, Koshigaya City. 

She loved ballet and instructed students,and made all costumes for recitals until 2022.

 

​History of Fujiwara Ballet School

1965 Founded   Fujiwara Ballet Institute.

 

1967 Started a ballet class at the Takesato housing complex meeting place in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture.

 

1968 First presentation held at Takesato Shirayuri Kindergarten.

 

1977   A new school was established in present location Onmashinden, Koshigaya City.

 

1982 Summer school held, training camp held in school during summer vacation.

 

1984 Participated in Koshigaya City's from 16th Citizen's Cultural Festival for the first time and continued up to the 46th.

 

1985 Participated in the 1st Dance Festival, and participated up to the 30th.

 

1996 30th anniversary special performance, "Don Quixote" performed live by the Saitama Chamber Orchestra.

 

1999 Performed "DAGAKU", "Popcorn City" and "Tropical Land" with percussion and brass band.

 

2001 First collaboration with Wadaiko of  ``Bushu Suikokai'', performing ``Sai'', a work with a Japanese Style. Repeated in 2004, 2013 and 2021.

 

2002 To commemorate the 20th anniversary, a full-length performance of "The Nutcracker" was performed by the Koshigaya Symphony Orchestra.

2004 Mr. Takashi Fujiwara, the husband of  Ms. Fumiyo Fujiwara, nicknamed "Grandpa", passed away.

Supporting the school behind the scenes in a wide range of ways, such as the school's symbol mark and the production of stage props and props.

 

2005 Ms. Fumiyo Fujiwara retired from active duty. After over 50 years as a ballet teacher, she was mainly in charge of costume production in the costume department.

 

2007 Performance of "Movement" with live piano performance by Ayumi Hiruzaki.

 

2008 Performed "heaven and earth" with nurse log percussion.

 

2011 Performance of "The Nutcracker" in two acts by the Koshigaya Citizen Symphony Orchestra at Misato Bunka Kaikan.

 

2015 Performed "heaven and earth" with live musik by accordionist Yvonne Grünwald.

 

2016 First Ballet Summer Concert and  held at the Sugito Lifelong Learning Center. 5th Summer Concert to be held in 2023.

 

2017 “La Vie En Rose” with live performance by accordion and vocal duo “Aurata” from Germany.

 

2018 Costume rental service started.

 

In 2020, Ms. Fumiyo Fujiwara passed away at the age of 95.

Loves ballet, has been teaching students for a long time, and creates costumes for all recitals. The curtain of her life has closed, but her soul lives on at the Fujiwara Ballet School.

 

2021 Fujiwara Ballet School 30th Commemorative Presentation, "la fille mal gardee" is performed for the first time as our school.

In memory of Ms. Fumiyo Fujiwara, a work related to her, "Sai," will be performed along with the sound of the Japanese drums of the Bushu Suikokai.

The School logo mark is Mr.Takashi Fujiwara's design who was popular with the nickname"Grandpa" .
